Car Seat Cinema

I shop a lot on Zulily and saw these for sale and thought that they were a great idea. As we were going on holiday soon i decided to try and make my own. Well I could not get my head around it and how to stitch in the plastic, but it turned out ok.

This is my second attempt for a friend and is far better. I figured out how to incorporate the plastic and  zip, but I think the zip looks ugly and I plan to add velcro next time.

Little Ferns for My Little Ferns Christening

I love Pinterest and found these little wedding favour ideas that I thought I could use as table decorations and favours. the tables looked great and helped set off the gyp flowers i used in old vases.

My New Sewing Room

As we only have two bedrooms and now that room is Ferns room we both needed a hobby room. The only place was our very long garage, well my part of it. So this very 10x10 room had to have multi purposes.

1 - The first is to have a shelve under the window for my tropical plants over the winter.
2 - To hold the husbands DJ decks and his storage.
3 - The Desktop.
4 - My fabric stash and a collapsable table for cutting and sewing.

This is my recycled book shelf that I think is Ikea. I sourced the 100 year okd sewing machine off ebay for £1.50 and used wallpaper samples to cover the back of each shelf.

I this pic you get the idea of how crammed it it.

This is my fold away table. It is rather large and we have put it quite high up so that i can stand and cut fabric out, but i do have to dew on the machine using a stool.

I had to make some bunting for the room to hide the pipes to the outside tap.

Baby Dutch Dress

After nearly 6 months of not sewing I was given some free time and wanted to make some baby dresses. After much research I settled on the Dutch Dress.

I brought a double duvet from Primark as i loved the patter and only used one pillow case to make this one.

This one was made from some left over material from some shorts I made as part of my summer wardrobe challenge.

Crochet Christening Booties and Matching Shawl

So after my failed attempt of my first set of booties I thought I better take my tim over these. I did and soon realised that it was not working, so most of it, well all of it was crocheted from my own brain. I was blinking hard, but when I finished both, I realised that again I was working the wrong way round, but they both looked the same and I stitched on some real peals. I was just a shame that n the day they were too heavy and kept falling off.

The Baby shawl was made only a few days before the Christening when the vicar asked what I had planned. It took 6 hours using my first C2C and scallop edging. I finished it off by using the last of my pearls.

Mickey Mouse Booties - Massive Fail !

I tHink I stated to get a little cocky with my new talent and decided to make Fern some booties for her Christening that was rater soon, but thought best to have a trail run first, so I made the mother to be again some mickey mouse booties.

The top picture is what it should look like and the below is how they turned out like. So I was quite disappointed and asked my facebook crochet group what they thought I should do. They suggested that I turn them inside out.

No, They still look crap!

Baby Teddy Bunting

As I felt that I was on a role with this crochet I decided to make the same mother to be some baby bunting, but making 3d teddies.

I followed my first pattern, easier than I thought.

Maternity Leave Learns to Crochet - Taggie Blanket

Eve since I was a little girl I have always wanted to crochet, I think because you could make loads of cool things and I have always thought it very Britsh! When I got pregnant I knew that the new sewing room would not get much use and that this would drive me mad not being able to be creative, so best chance to learn to crochet! I brought a book and the yarn needed for the first three projects, along with some cheep practice yarn. Now I was brought up with practice makes perfect, so I took all my stuff on holiday to the Croatian island of Korcula and chained and chained and chained. Even when I got home I chained and chained. My thinking was that if I could put it down and pick it up and it still be the same tension then I was ready to move on. Well I chained for ages and then didn't do it for ages as my spare moments was used for shopping and decorating for baby. But when baby Fern finally arrived I tried again. The book was crap! I ended up and still turn to YouTube for help, there are some great tutorials out there. Here are my first three projects.

This is a high contrast baby sensory blanket, I still need to add the. Ribbons on though.

I used 3 of each, bobble, loop and triple stitch with a few rows of single and a scallop edge.

This is my first chunky small blanket.

UPDATE

Yay I have finished it. Washed and ribbons added, I am really happy with how it turned out and so was the mother to be.

Facebook Love from the Sewing Group

Last week I decided to post a few of my makes on a Facebook sewing group to see what people thought, I was overwhelmed with the response, as you can see from my screen grabs I have 1.1k Likes and 292+ comments.

Baby Cot Lavender Bags

As I made some baby bunting for my friends I also decided to try my hand at lavender bags that could be hung next to the cot or moses basket. I had a look online and came up with these designs.

Pom Pom Flowers

We inherited a vase from my husbands nan and it has been hidden in the front room fro a year and then we moved it into the spare room, it was the only thing that we didn't move out of the room while we were decorating, and as the room slowly took shape it stayed there and now actually looks really good. SO with that in mind and now wanting to keep it I pinned some pompom flowers, with that in mind, thats what I decided to do.

I used 5 garden canes that I painted green, made different types of flowers that have individual leaves. I am really chuffed with how they turned out.

Felt Minecraft Robot

I came across these on Pinterest and think they are uber cute.

 And this is mine.

Taxidermy Soft Elephant Head - Abby Glassenberg

I had seen a few of these, again on Pinterest, and thought it was different but cute. My friends and family thought it was scary, but out and about the past few months have shown that they are now being sold in shops, so they have come round now. I downloaded this pattern from Etsy and it came with the option of doing a giraffe as well, but I chose the elephant.

Here is mine

No Pattern Giraffe.

I knew I wanted a large giraffe stuffed free standing toy and liked these ones on Pinterest.

I had only made the flamingo and elephant head so far so just made loads of educated guesses of what i needed to do.

This was my attempt.

Let me point out the mistakes. I added the gusset to the head last minute, hence why the ears and horns are low. The neck was really too thin, so after stuffing the ears and horns and then trying for 30 minutes to turn it the right way round and busting the seam it worked. The neck also has a chop stick in it.

The good points are that the spots are the same both sides and she stands up.
